A Premier League footballer has been arrested in North London on suspicion of rape.
The unnamed player, whose name remains anonymous for security reasons, is also facing two more allegations of rape against a different woman. He’s been subsequently released on bail until August after undergoing 30 hours of police custody.
Telegraph Sport reported that the incident occurred last month. Per Scotland Yard, “On 4 July, an allegation of rape of a woman in her 20s was reported to police. It was reported the alleged rape happened in June 2022. On 4 July, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and taken into custody.
“While in custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of two incidents of rape that were alleged to have been committed in April and June of 2021 against a different woman in her 20s.
He has subsequently been released on bail to a date in August. Inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
Who is the unknown Premier League star?
The internet is abuzz with speculation about who the unknown internationally renowned player could be. A now-since-suspended Twitter user named James Opinions seems to think it’s Thomas Partey, given the 29-year-old’s North London residence.
Partey is currently in London and is not traveling to Germany with the Arsenal team for the pre-season.
Some reports indicate that the Ghanaian international was not in London at the time of the incident and has converted to Islam.
Like Mason Greenwood before him — whoever the player is — he’ll miss the rest of the upcoming Premier League season and, most certainly, this year’s World Cup.
