Kit collector @memorabilit1899 has released sneak peek photos of Barcelona‘s 125th Anniversary Special-Edition kit. The Catalan giants will celebrate their 125th anniversary in 2024.
Nike previously designed the special edition Blaugrana kit for the club’s 100th anniversary in 1999. That shirt famously featured vertical half-and-half Blaugrana stripes, which the club reproduced as their home shirt during the 2008/09 treble-winning season.
Nike x Patta Barcelona 125th Anniversary Special-Edition kit
Barcelona’s 125th Anniversary Special Edition kit is strange but not without precedent. It appears to mock Zamora CF’s 2019-19 third kit made by Kappa. The odd-looking kit, which depicts the human circulatory system with the club crest on the heart, went viral. Nike and Barcelona partnered with Dutch streetwear brand Patta on the design.
The forthcoming Barcelona shirt adopts a radical design, throwing what appears to be a Spider-Man-like vascular system of veins in the human body.
The Blaugrana-colored venous network intersects the club badge directly over the heart. The Nike Swoosh and Spotify Logos glow in white. The predominantly black colorway gives the design a noticeable effect. Meanwhile, the back of the shirt is all-black.
But we’re not buying this as an in-game jersey; perhaps it’s more of a warm-up shirt or street clothing one-off. We’ll find out soon enough.
The Nike x Patta Barcelona 125th Anniversary Special-Edition kit launches next year with “Culers Del Mon’ (Culers of the World) as the campaign clarion call. The slogan also appears on the tag, adjacent to Patta’s red logo.
