Inter Miami might be four years into its infancy, but the club has taken strides to stamp its name on Major League Soccer. Adding 2022 World Cup winner Lionel Messi to the roster was the cherry on top. In preparation for the club’s upcoming 24/25 season, they warm up against Vissel Kobe and Ronaldo’s Al Nassr for “one last dance” early next year; let’s look at the top scorers to date.
Note: We may soon see Luis Suarez enter the top ten of this list. Reports indicate the Uruguayan striker is close to joining friend and former Barcelona strike partner Messi in Ft. Lauderdale.
1. Lionel Messi — 30 goals
By the time Messi beats Higuain to the number one all-time scorer at Inter Miami, he’ll have probably broken plenty of MLS records along the way.
The GOAT led the Herons to their first piece of silverware in the Leagues Cup last season. He’s averaging nearly a goal per match, scoring 11 in just 14 appearances.
With 1.5 years left on his contract, Messi is due for more goals and trophies, quickly taking him to the top of this list.
“From day one, Leo arrives early, and he leaves later than any other player. He’s the most professional player in our squad,” said a proud Becks. Messi became the first MLS player to win the Ballon d’Or in 2023.
2. Gonzalo Higuaín — 29 goals
Messi’s fellow countryman, former Argentine, and Juventus star Gonzalo Higuain took the MLS by storm when he joined Inter Miami in 2020.
Higuain proved to be one of Beckham’s best signings. The Argentine striker scored 29 goals in 67 appearances with the Herons.
3. Leonardo Campana — 23 goals
6’2 Ecuadorian striker Leonardo Campana added nine more strikes last season to up his tally to 23 goals.
The bagsman is on pace to surpass Higuain in the upcoming season to become Miami’s best-ever leading scorer unless you know who has anything to say about that.
4. Josef Martínez — 12 goals
Venezuelan striker Josef Martínez scored 12 goals in his first season at Inter Miami. However, all good things come to an end. After one season, the player departed the Herons, making space for the Luis Suarez to Miami transfer.
5. Robert Taylor — 11 goals
Miami midfielder Robert Taylor is no joke unless he’s dressing up as Messi’s bodyguard for Halloween.
He’s scored 11 goals in 77 caps for the Ft. Lauderdale side. He is vital in ensuring Miami gets into the playoffs next season.
