Looking to get away? Neymar is joining the ranks of footballers who own their islands.
The 32-year-old Brazilian has been closely watching the housing market back home. The winger has had plenty of time to screen-stare the last year after recovering from an ACL and meniscus tear last October. And it looks like his patience is paying off.
Before the player returned to Al-Hilal last week, he jetted off to rent what could be his potential next home off the coast of Angra dos Reis in Brazil. The bill? Nearly $50,000.
More precisely, the 6-acre mansion is on Japao Private Island, 93 miles west of Rio de Janeiro. The island, surrounded by crystal-clear water, can only be reached by boat or helicopter. That is no problem for Neymar; he owns a $12 million black Mercedes helicopter and an $8 million yacht.
The island is home to one main villa with two master suites plus three other sea-view bungalows. The property also features an enchanting koi fish pond.
The villa can be Neymar’s full-time home for nearly $5 million, a half-cut price. The Brazilian earns roughly $112 million per season, so expect to see more keepy-uppy shares like this soon.
