Christian Pulisic’s superb form continues for AC Milan. On Tuesday, he scored the opener in the club’s third Champions League match against Club Brugge.
But it wasn’t an ordinary goal. In the 34th minute, he scored directly from a corner, an incredibly rare goal known as an Olimpico.
The corner kick may not have required precision in the technique that manipulates a hiccup in the wind, such as Argentina‘s Cesáreo Onzari against Uruguay in 1924.
Instead, Brugge’s goalkeeper fell out of position and misjudged the ball, which deflected off…. nobody.
The goal brings Pulisic’s contribution goal and assists to 12 goals in 14 games for club and country this season. His assist last Saturday gave him seven consecutive goal contributions for AC Milan in Serie A, a first among the top five European Leagues this season.
Apparently, “the LeBron James of soccer” also gives his post-match interviews in Italian. Pulisic is simply unstoppable at this moment. Even Messi hasn’t scored an Olímpico!
