Now that the 33rd edition of AFCON has kicked off and we’ve seen the teams in action, let’s take a look back and highlight some of the best kits of the tournament so far.
Mali
Did someone say work of art?
Designed by Airness, the Mali kit dazzles with wonderfully bold colors that represent that country’s tricolor, green, gold, and red, flag. But is it ever a Mali kit without the Eagle on the chest?
The green colorway features the eye-catching eagle in yellow laced with Mali’s traditional colors. The white jersey showcases the eagle in green and features the same green, gold, and red graphics across the chest and sleeves.
Nigeria
Nigeria always brings it A-game to kit design. I mean, that 2018 World Cup Home kit was sensational. The Home kit for ACON featuring a mixture of white and green plus a black collar is equally dazzling. But the away kit is something special.
The Super Eagles’ away kit features a dark dark green colorway patterned with vertical bands of white and light green on the sleeves. So fresh and clean — the beauty in its simplicity.
And how about that silky 1945 patch — a nod to the founding of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Ghana
Possibly the best outfit at AFCON, the Ghana kit made by Puma is also the most traditional and unique. The home kit features a white colorway patched with complex horizontal and vertical grey bars. The away jersey is predominantly yellow laced with black sleeves and black patterns.
The Black Stars lost their opening game to Morocco after conceding a late goal. They’ll hope to redeem themselves against Gabon on Friday.
Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe proudly displays the colors of their flag on their classy Umbro kit. The yellow colorway gets etched with diagonal yellow, red, and black streaks across the body.
The Warriors lost their opening match against Sadio Mane‘s Senegal team 1-0 on Monday and will be seeking redemption against Malawai in Friday’s group stage game.
