It looks like performing Cole Palmer‘s iconic “cold” celebration will have to come with a permission slip. The England international is done letting his meme go unmonetized.
The 22-year-old submitted paperwork to trademark his shivering celebration and “Cold Palmer” nickname to cover all merchandise and consumer goods including toys, clothes, alcohol, razor blades, cars, you name it.
Perhaps he’ll even open a skating rink or make “Cold Palmer chippy” chips. Any of the above ventures could rake in millions. Watch out fellow long-time cold celebrator Trae Young! ™️©️
The alleged move follows along the lines of star footballers David Beckham, who licensed his DB07 and DB23 brands, and Kylian Mbappe, who owns all his global image rights. Add Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, and Gareth Bale to the likes of intellectual property geeks.
Calmer’s move is also strictly business. After all, the midfielder is becoming a superstar.
He continues to tear it up this season for the Blues. He’s scored 11 goals and provided six assists in just 15 Premier League matches, reviving Chelsea’s top-four status. Palmer leads the Premier League in goal contributions (50) since the start of the 2023/24 season. You have to wonder if Pep Guardiola regrets ever letting Palmer leave City?
“I feel very proud and privileged to work with Cole Palmer,” says Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.
“He’s a different one, for sure. He loves football! If you see many big players, they don’t look flustered. They look almost like they don’t care about nothing. Then he cares, he loves the game”.
As they say, different is attractive.
