Kylian Mbappe has been cleared to play in tonight’s Round of 16 leg 2 match against BVB in Paris after testing negative for the coronavirus.
The French striker fell ill with a throat problem earlier this week, spending most of the time in bed and on medication, before getting tested late Tuesday for COVID-19 sweeping through Europe.
“Kylian is sick,” said PSG boss Tuchel on Tuesday. “He was sick yesterday and he is sick today with angina and we are trying to maybe have a light practice (with him) this evening.”
The €265.2m is the most high profile athlete to be tested for the coronavirus. All Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest players and staff were also cleared after owner Evangelos Marinakis revealed he was suffering from the disease.
Man City versus Arsenal has also been postponed today because the Olympiacos owner met with the Greek owner after the Europa League match in London just thirteen days ago.
Mbappe to start? Thiago Silva out
Although Mbappe took part in a short training session with teammates this morning there is no guarantee that he’ll start.
However, Brazilian defender Thiago Silva is out of contention for the match tonight.
PSG will also play at home behind close doors as a precaution to the coronavirus although PSG’s ultras are allowed to gather near the stadium to lend support to the team.
The clash is a must-win for the Parisians. BVB hold a 2-1 aggregate lead over PSG after the first leg.
