Newcastle will return to one of their most beloved away kits for next season as Adidas takes over from Castore. The new 2024/25 away strip, made by Adidas, intends to replicate the glory and aesthetics of the 1995/96 away kit.
That memorable shirt showcased the dualistic mashup of maroon and blue horizontal stripes. The off-white logos on the kit, including the Adidas and Newcastle beer logo, stamped their names on a classic. There were also three stripes on the sleeves.
The closest the club came to replicating the 1995/96 colorway was the Newcastle 2018-19 away kit. But that Puma iteration still missed some of the delicate, underlying touches of the original, such as the collar.
The uniquely formatted grandad-collar design gave the early 95/96 away kit an appreciable sophistication.
As part of the release of Newcastle’s new 2024/25 Adidas away kit, the German sportswear brand will also make a modern long-sleeve version of its staple black and white classic from the 1970s.
Both home and away kits are scheduled for release next June.
