Enzo Fernandez shared some harsh words with former teammate Mason Mount after last night’s Chelsea comeback against Manchester United.
“This is Chelsea, coward, coward…” he’s supposed to have taunted Mount in Spanish. “Cagon,” of course, also translates to chicken. Either way, the message was clear and Enzo spoke for many Blues fans still sore about Mount’s shocking departure.
The Argentine also provided the key pass to Palmer to help snatch the last-second victory.
‘Mason, what’s the score?’
Mount left Chelsea, his boyhood club of 18 years, last summer on a £60m deal to Old Trafford. The midfielder had one season left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, with fans still irked at his reluctance to sign a renewal.
The 25-year-old has since struggled for playing time under Erik ten Hag. Chelsea fans didn’t make it any easier on the former Champions League winner when he substituted late in the game. Along with boos, Chelsea fans shouted, “Mason what’s the score?” from one of the stands after the late stoppage-time winner.
Meanwhile, Mount’s replacement Cole Palmer scored a hat-trick in last night’s match, the latter two in the game’s final two minutes to seal the three points. Despite the team’s struggles, the 21-year-old is enjoying a fantastic start with the Blues. Palmer has netted 21 times and provided 12 assists on the season in all competitions.
