Barcelona’s 5–2 victory over Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup Final occurred at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where the Catalans delivered a blistering display of attacking football.

Kylian Mbappé provided Real Madrid a dream start with his 5th-minute goal, but the momentum quickly swung in Barcelona’s favor.

Barça’s night belonged to Raphinha and Yamal

Lamine Yamal, just 17 years old, equalized in the 22nd minute with a well-placed shot that showcased uncanny maturity.

Robert Lewandowski then put Barcelona ahead on 36 minutes by converting a penalty after VAR confirmed Eduardo Camavinga’s foul. Three minutes later, Raphinha rose to meet Jules Koundé’s cross, heading home for a 3–1 lead. Just before halftime, the visitors made it 4–1 through Alejandro Balde’s crisp finish.

“In the first half we didn’t play football, we hit long balls and that wasn’t the idea,” Real Madrid coach admitted post-match. He also confessed, “I told the players that they can lose games, but not in the way we played in the first half.”

In the second half, Raphinha struck again in the 48th minute. He received a clever assist from Marc Casadó, who fed the Brazilian winger before he slalomed past a pair of and slotted the ball into the net.

Barcelona’s night, however, took a nervous turn in the 57th minute when starting goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was shown a straight red card for a foul on Mbappé. Substitute goalkeeper Iñaki Peña replaced him for the remainder of the match. Although Rodrygo pulled one back for Madrid soon after with a well-taken , the scoreline never tightened enough to unsettle Hansi Flick’s side.

“Real made many mistakes, and we knew how to take advantage of them to control the match,” Barcelona coach Hansi Flick said.

With this victory, Barcelona clinched their record-extending 15th Spanish Supercup title. Flick, who took over last summer, celebrated his first trophy at the club’s helm. Lamine Yamal’s performance and decisive contributions from veterans such as Raphinha and Lewandowski underscored Barcelona’s blend of youthful talent and experienced leadership.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, struggled defensively and missed the chance to exploit their numerical advantage, allowing Barcelona to control the latter stages even with ten men.
