The Spanish powerhouse has amassed numerous achievements in national and global competitions over 100 years. But Los Blancos’ predominance on the European international stage is the team’s crowning achievement.

So how many times have Real Madrid won the Champions League?

Real Madrid have won the Champions League a record 15 times.

In the 1955-56 season, Real Madrid embarked on their journey to the pinnacle of European football by winning the first-ever European Cup. This competition rebranded in 1992, becoming known as the Champions League.

The Spanish side quickly established dominance by securing five consecutive titles between 1956 and 1960. A talented squad featuring legendary players like Alfredo Di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas, and Francisco Gento spearheaded this feat.

The club’s European success continued throughout the 20th century, with titles in 1966, 1998, 2000, and 2002. However, it was during the 2010s that Real Madrid asserted its authority over the competition. They secured four Champions League trophies in five years.

From 2014 to 2018, this incredible run saw the team led by an array of world-class talents, including , , and Luka Modric, as well as the astute tactical guidance of manager . Zidane led Madrid to three consecutive Champions League titles.

Real Madrid’s 14th title came in the 2021-22 season under boss Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian boss subsequently became the first manager to win the Champions League four times. He’d already won it with Los Blancos during the La Decima in the 2013-14 season. But perhaps none is more memorable than the 2021-22 season.

Eventual Ballon D’or winner Karim Benzema led the historic 21-22 Champions League run, scoring fifteen goals in the tournament. But the icing on the cake was the 2023-24 Champions League triumph. Once again Carlo Ancelotti’s mix of old and young stars, most notably Toni Kroos, and Vini Junior, cultivated their peristence and quality to propel the team to victory.

Real Madrid’s 15 Champions League titles represent an unrivaled level of success in European football. Los Blancos’ rich history, fraught with iconic players and managers and, most importantly, heaps of silverware, makes them a true footballing powerhouse.
