Vinicius Junior has yet to shine for his national side. But the 23-year-old is one to watch this summer, as he could make 2024 his international coming-out party.

The Brazilian is hot off the heels of his second Champions League trophy after putting in another Ballon d’Or-worthy season at Real Madrid. He scored 24 goals and assisted 11 in 39 matches this 23/24 season. Nearly half of those strike and assist contributions emerged during the triumphant Champions League run.

Is this Vini’s time to shine for Brazil?

Real Madrid’s top scorer this season is currently edging out his teammate Jude Bellingham for this year’s Ballon d’Or. But a good outing in the Copa America should seal it for the Brazilian attacker.

“I want to win Copa America. I still don’t have a title with Brazil and I hope now is the time. I will give everything,” said Vini Jr, training ahead of Brazil’s Copa America warm-up friendlies against and the United States.

Vini has only scored three goals in 30 caps for the Seleção, which is underwhelming given his explosive club performance. Seemingly growing in confidence, Vini can show up at any time. And there’s no better time than now, especially with an uncharacteristically vulnerable Brazil side.

One last push, and perhaps a victorious rematch and vengeance over ‘s in Copa America would be icing on Vini’s Ballon d’Or cake.
