Barbie is a Fulham fan. Fans dug up an old BBC interview in 2017 in which Margot Robbie “pledged” her allegiance to the West London club.
The Australian actress became a Fulham fan through her husband, famed British producer and director Tom Ackerley. He also serves as one of the producers of Robbie’s new hit movie Barbie.
The Barbie supports Fulham
Robbie attended a match at Fulham’s Craven Cottage in August 2014, hot off the heels of her role in Hollywood hit The Wolf of Wall Street.
The club shared an image of the actress wearing a team scarf on the pitch and a kit. Unfortunately, Fulham lost the match 1-nil to Millwall, issuing her version of the Kardashian effect.
“My two best friends – well, it’s my husband and my other best friend Josie. Aston Villa‘s is Josie’s team, Fulham’s Tom’s team,” the Australian actress told the BBC.
“So they’re going to the game and it’s tense already. I’m on the edge of my seat to see who wins. I mean, I’ve pledged my allegiance to Fulham, so I want Fulham to win.”
Interestingly, five Aussie players have suited up for the Cottagers — most notably, goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.
The Hollywood craze for football, especially the Premier League clubs, has ballooned in the past few years. Ryan Reynolds‘s very own Wrexham has gone up through the English football ranks.
Can Robbie make Dicaprio, Cruise, and other movie stars team Fulham? The Cottagers kick off their 23/24 Premier League season campaign against Everton on August 12.
