The NFL ratings have taken a boost ever since Taylor Swift has been attending Kansas City Chiefs games. The frenzy around the relationship with her new boyfriend, KC Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, remains unmatched. Taylor’s mere presence at NFL stadiums got us wondering what she could do to boost Premier League ratings–as if the biggest football league needed more eyeballs! Let’s examine what EPL side Taylor Swift would support and the possibility of her soaking in a match one day in person.
Taylor Swift as a Manchester United supporter
You’ve got red on you. Taylor Swift is a big fan of the Red, just like her preferred lipstick. So, her allegiance to Manchester United’s Red Devils is a high possibility. Liverpool and Arsenal come to mind, but Taylor seems to like the masses.
The queen of country music and pop goes hand in hand with the Premier League’s most famous club. Something tells me she would fancy United’s new number 11, Danish striker Rasmus Højlund.
Taylor Swift as a Chelsea supporter
Locations, names, — all those familiarities come into factor when we choose our Premier League sides. Taylor Swift owns a property in the lofty Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York. And given her lyrics, which touch upon themes of love, loss, and hard times — it’s fair to say she’s got the blues for the Chelsea Blues.
Despite massive investments in new squad players, Chelsea continues to struggle in the Premier League. Perhaps all it would take is one quick visit to Stamford Bridge for Taylor Swift to reignite the storied club back to winning ways. Note of caution: celebrities like Swift and Kardashian do seem to have the opposite ‘losing’ effect on the teams they visit. Their support is a kiss of death.
Taylor Swift as a Wrexham supporter
Wrexham plays football in the Football League Two, still a far cry from the Premier League. But we reckon Swift is a fan of the Red Dragons since she’s close friends with Ryan Reynolds. The Hollywood actor is co-owner of the Welsh club, which has become America’s favorite team due to the ever-popular documentary TV show “Welcome to Wrexham.”
Swift should befriend Margot Robbie if she wants to go for a more local Premier League side. The Barbie star is a massive fan of West London’s Fulham, attending a handful of games at Craven Cottage to support her beloved club.
In reality, Taylor Swift may not care as much about what Premier League team to follow. She’s probably more interested in which English stadium will host her sell-out shows. Beyonce sold out five nights at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium last May.
Swift may have grown up with the class of 92 at Manchester United, but the closest she gets to supporting a football club is Ted Lasso’s AFC Richmond.
