Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is taking on a new act as a songwriter. That’s according to a tweet he sent this morning observing his name etched into the song credits of Drake‘s new single “Wick Man.”
Highlighted on the liner notes were A. Graham aka Drake, A. Maman, the production virtuoso known as The Alchemist and the footballer sensation, K. De Bruyne.
“Drake needed an assist,” tweeted the 32-year-old, who’s been injured since the first game of the Premier League season with a hamstring problem.
However, the midfielder admitted in a follow-up reply “all jokes aside, it’s not me! Huge fan though!”
That didn’t stop fans from lauding the Belgian who’s known for delivering a bevy of assists. De Bruyne finished third in the 2022 Ballon D’Or award and fourth this year after helping City to the treble.
“Assists on and off the pitch,” tweeted one City fan.
“Can you assist everton?” replied another, alluding to the Toffees recent 10-point deduction for breaking FFP rules.
Even De Bruyne’s teammate Erling Haaland, second in the 2023 Ballon d’Or, got in on the fun. “He is not alone,” replied the Norwegian goal machine.
De Bruyne delivered Haaland eight assists during last season’s triumphant Premier League run. The Belgian finished with 18, adding to his 102 all-time. He’s currently fourth top assister in Premier League history.
