If they were going to get nostalgic and bring back a kit, they better make it this one. Manchester City have leaked the new away kit for the 2024/25 away season. And surprise, it looks like the gem yellow and black kit they wore during the 1998/99 season.

However, the new 2024/35 kit doesn't exactly ring the same vibes as the 1999 version from Kappa. That kit also marked the Cityzens Division Two playoff final victory against Gillingham, signaling the start of the club's resurgence two decades later.

Man City's new 2024/25 away kit: Nostalgia gone wrong?

Like the old one, the new kit features the iconic bee stripes. The sponsor takes center stage, and the collar and cuffs run striped. But that's where the comparisons stop because it appears that the 2024/25 away kit takes on a predominant blue colorway.

The entire back half of the shirt also retains the navy blue color. The 1999 iteration at least gave the stripes some more freedom, intercepted by the player's mere names and numbers.

It's no shock some fans are comparing the new Manchester City away kit to Super Lig side Fenerbahce or, better yet, Benzema's Al-Ittihad.

One fan on X wrote, “This Manchester City shirt is the closest Fenerbahce will get to winning a trophy next season.”

“Manchester City 24-25 Loser Shirt,” posted another, perhaps auguring a rare City drop in points next season.

The new kit will launch next month for one Benjamin Franklin. City fans, is it a definite buy?
