Mexican legend is headed back to his boyhood club . The forward left the Guadalajara club 14 years ago upon signing for Premier League giants Manchester United.

Chicharito has been evaluating his professional options since his contract expiration last November. But moving back to the city where he grew up and started his professional career in 2006 made the most sense for the free agent. He turned down offers to return to Europe and play in the Middle East.

“He left, made history and today he is back home,” Chivas shared in their emotional announcement video. Even the Red Devils praised Chicharito’s return to Mexico. He earned cult status playing under Sir Alex Ferguson for three seasons, netting 59 times and capturing two Premier League titles.

The 35-year-old striker has enjoyed a wondrous career across Europe, starring for Real Madrid, , West Ham, and Sevilla before bringing his goal-scoring abilities to the MLS. He’s scored over 200 in his career, also topping the list as Mexico’s all-time top leading scorer

The once top scorer of Mexico’s top flight back in 2010, Chicharito once again suits up for Chivas to further cement his legacy for the club.
