The father of Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal, Mounir Nasraoui, remains in the hospital after suffering multiple stab wounds last night.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the coastal town of Mataro, northeast of Barcelona. Police have already arrested four suspects.
What happened to Yamal’s Dad?
An eyewitness video reveals Yamal’s father pushed away from an argument with some neighbors before the stabbing.
El Pais reports that a group of people got into a shouting match with Yamal’s Dad while he was walking the dog through the Rocafonda neighborhood.
What was the motivation for the stabbing?
According to one source, the group was of Moroccan descent, and they were displeased that Yamal was playing for his native Spain in the Euros this summer instead of with Morocco at the Olympics.
Later on that evening, at 11:30 pm, the same group of people stabbed Mr. Nasraoui in a parking lot.
What is the condition of Lamal’s father?
Yamal’s father remains stable in the hospital as of Thursday, with visitations from the club hierarchy in Barcelona. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old Blaugrana star prepares for the upcoming La Liga season.
Lamal recently celebrated Spain’s Euro 2024 victory over England with his father at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on July 14.
