Mohamed Salah has achieved something extraordinary this season. He’s become the first player in Premier League history to be directly involved in 22 away goals in a single campaign. It’s only February.
Those contributions split into 13 goals and 9 assists, eclipse Andy Cole’s longstanding record of 21 from the 1993-94 season and highlight how Salah’s permanent class.
He reached the milestone during a heated Merseyside derby against Everton, assisting Mac Allister in the first goal and slotting home Liverpool’s second goal at Goodison Park. With 14 league games left, he has ample opportunity to push the record beyond anyone’s reach and possibly deliver his finest season since arriving from Roma in 2017.
He also just needs 7 more assists throughout the next 14 matches to break the EPL assist record currently held by Thierry Henry (20).
Mo, once again more than proving his worth
Despite his remarkable output, Salah’s future at Liverpool has been a source of speculation. Dejan Lovren, his former teammate, offered an inside view of the situation in an interview with WinWin: “Salah believes that there are things missing from the club’s side, and I hope it will be resolved soon. But the current reality is that he is closer to leaving than staying.”
Lovren also said, “He loves Liverpool, by the way he loves Liverpool a lot, and he wants to stay, and that’s the most important part.” Yet contract talks remain unsettled, and there are concerns that Liverpool could lose not only Salah but also Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk for nothing next summer.
Still, for now, the Egyptian forward shows no sign of slowing. He leads the league in assists, stands among the top scorers in Europe, and has grown into one of the most reliable penalty-takers around. His ability to affect matches week after week underscores why Liverpool supporters have already crowned him the club’s best player of the Premier League era. 2025’s Ballon d’Or winner, anybody?
