In an interview with TVI, Cristiano Ronaldo admitted that his playing days could end as soon as next year.
“I could end my career next year, but I could also play until I’m 40, 41 years old,” he said. “I don’t know, but what I always say is that you have to enjoy the moment. The present is excellent and I must enjoy it.”
The 34-year-old Portuguese star shares the record for five Ballon d’Ors with arch-rival Lionel Messi. However, Ronaldo is the Champions League all-time leading scorer with 126 goals, with trophies collected across Europe in England, Spain, and Italy.
Ronaldo’s 88 strikes for Portugal are also the most international goals of any active player.

In the interview, Ronaldo also shared his perspective on today’s mammoth transfer deals.
“It is hard to calculate,” he said.
“If a goalkeeper is worth €75m, a player who has done what I had must be worth three to four times more. Easy. But I have no such illusion.”
“Today there is a lot of focus on potential and the football industry is different.
“I’ll put the case of Joao Félix aside. Nowadays any player is worth €100m, even without proof. There is more money in football.”
