Setting a record fee of 80 million pounds upon his transfer from Manchester United, the striker made a monumental impact on Los Blancos over a nine-year stretch. The Portuguese forward surpassed Raul, the previous number seven, with 450 goals of his own on 438 appearances, averaging over one per game. Once the highest-paid transfer for a Spanish defender, Sergio Ramos signed with Real Madrid from Sevilla in 2005 for €27 million. Ramos succeeded as Real Madrid captain in 2015, helping guide Los Blancos to four of the five last Champions League victories. Love him or hate him for the occasionally stepping over the line, he has been remarkably consistent at the top level for 14 years, also scoring crucial goals.

The Brazilian defender played 527 times for Los Blancos, making his name as one of the best left-back in history. The Croatian maestro Luka Modric signed to Real Madrid for a £30 transfer fee in 2012. In a seven-year career at the Bernabeu from 1985 to 1992, the Mexican striker won five consecutive league titles, a Spanish Cup, and the UEFA Cup. A prolific and spectacular goal-scorer, he fired 164 goals in the domestic league, 38 of those came during the 1989-90 season.
