Adidas has released the official match ball for this year’s Champions League in anticipation of Thursday’s draw. The match balls for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Women’s Champions League follow a similar model but have an inverse look.
What Makes the UCL and UWCL 2024/25 Balls Unique?
This year’s UCL ball exhibits the classic black-and-white color scheme. Black stars contrast the white hexagons. However, the vibrant pops of neon green for the UCL logo and red for the Adidas stripes make the design truly stand out.
“From the stars. Introducing your new UCL Pro Match Ball. Made for nights under the lights,” writes the UEFA Champions League on X.
If the men’s Champions League bleeds elegantly, then the women’s 2024/25 is a beautiful remix. The UWCL 2024/25 Champions League incorporates dark black and red hexagons on its canvas, converting the iconic UCL stars to white. The bright highlights of neon yellow on the Adidas three stripes add stark contrast.
Return of the Tip-to-Tip Star Pattern in 2024/25 UEFA Balls
A key design element in both balls is the return of the tip-to-tip star arrangement, a departure from the varied pattern used in recent years. This symmetrical layout pays homage to classic designs and enhances visual balance and precision, giving the ball a sleek, unified look.
What do you think of the new colorway of the Champions League ball?
The Champions League draw starts on Thursday. Unlike the traditional vibe of the new ball, the tournament will take on a new ‘Swiss Model’ structure that scraps the group stage for a league phase incorporating all 36 teams. Let’s see how the fans react to the latest tournament structure.
