Adidas unveiled a near-identical reproduction of Manchester United’s iconic 1988-1990 third kit.
The reissued blue kit serves as a key piece in the nostalgic collection reissued by Adidas Originals. The 1988-1990 third kit rerelease celebrates the Premier League team’s achievements during the late 1980s.
This period marked the beginning of their ascent to the pinnacle of English football, ultimately culminating in a triumphant FA Cup victory.
The win also secured Sir Alex Ferguson’s job, which was in jeopardy at the time. The Red Devils finished 13th in the league that season.
Of course, Ferguson went on to a record 38 trophies in 26 seasons at the club, more than any manager in the history of the sport.
The kit nods to the glorious past and present
The modernized kit boasts a throwback “MUFC” woven patterned fabric in every other vertical stripe. The vintage jersey includes the meticulously designed textured v-neck collar.
The signature red and black of Manchester United decorate the collar trim, just as they did on the original kit more than three decades ago. Three stripes run down the arms while the retro jersey maintains the epic SHARP logo, United badge, and Adidas Trefil from that term.
The kit is already available in Adidas Malaysia with an expected worldwide release this summer.
