This season’s first El Clasico will feature an exclusive Barcelona shirt that will blow both music and football fans away. That’s because The Rolling Stones are taking over the Blaugrana kit as Barcelona’s $300 million Spotify partnership continues to blossom. Last season, the team linked up with Drake and Rosalia on special edition El Clasico kits.
The iconic British rock band will see their “Tongue and Lips Design” take center stage. The Rolling Stones are due to drop their newest album, Hackney Diamonds — the first in two decades — on Spotify on October 20th. That is eight days before El Clasico, one of the world’s most-watched sporting events.
“We’re huge football fans and honored that Spotify have brought our Tongue & Lips logo to grace the FC Barcelona shirt to celebrate the release of the Stones’ new ‘Hackney Diamonds’ album,” the band stated.
“We’ll be cheering on the players on the pitch as well as fans around the world who will be tuning in to watch this iconic match.”
FC Barcelona x Rolling Stones for El Clasico
The Rolling Stones logo features a red tongue protruding from a pair of bubbly smackers. The big-lipped presence on Barcelona’s kit, replacing the Spotify logo, is undeniably awesome and sure to become an instant collector’s item.
“Yet again our collaboration with Spotify has taken things to the next level,” said Barca’s marketing VP, Juli Guiu.
“Bringing together two icons – The Rolling Stones logo and the Barça jersey – is a special moment for our fans around the world. Music and football form a special partnership with a long future ahead of them and we are happy to add another chapter to the story alongside Spotify.”
Barcelona and Rolling Stones will release t-shirts, hoodies, and other branded merchandise on October 23. The jersey, however, will be hard to come by as it’s limited to 1,899 kits. So keep your eyes prized on the Barca store for availability ahead of the El Clasico on October 28 at Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.
Barcelona’s women’s team will sport the new kits in their match against Sevilla on November 5.
