The USMNT's new 2024 home kit has leaked. As always with passionate soccer fans, the reactions have been mixed.

That's because the forthcoming 2024 home kit is sleek, simple, and banal. At the root of the shirt is the 2022 World Cup USMNT home kit, which didn't exactly win plaudits either, especially with its NFL-like sleeves.

The 2024 shirt takes the same white base but applies more subtle features. First, the collar is thicker and takes on a half-blue and half-red striped mimicking the flag. Down below is the navy Swoosh, sitting over the right chest, and the USA crest adjusted over the heart. The 2022 version laid the crest right amid the chest, an eye sore.

The colors of the flag also line the sleeve cuffs, which is a solid upgrade compared to the two swooshes from prior.

Fan reactions over the new USMNT leaked kit pour in

USMNT fans are mostly critical of the leaked shirt, not exactly sold by Nike's efforts given the fashion-forward designs of Japan and Mexico, both made by Adidas.

“Who else is tired of these PLAIN, BORING, and SOULLESS football shirt designs lately…,” tweeted one USMNT fan.

“If real, Nike and USMNT should be ashamed. These do not do justice to the team or the country,” he continued.

“USA jerseys should be BOLD, INNOVATIVE, and REVOLUTIONARY.”

“if those are actually the leaked jerseys for the usmnt, then nike needs to hire some better designers cause you scroll through the comments for two minutes and see ten better designs,” said another.

Both comments have fair points. We are a far off the bomb pop kit of the 2014 South and 2013 Gold Cup Waldo kits; those ring July 4. Let's see if Nike uses the initial fan's reactions to make changes.
