Team Brazil will wear black kits for the first team in a friendly against Guinea in Barcelona on June 17.
The national team wants to show solidarity with national team player Vinicius Jr., who's become a repeated target of racism in Spain, most recently during Real Madrid's loss to Valencia.
Brazil's black goalkeeper kit goes outfield
Goalkeeper Alisson previously wore the black kit at World Cup 2022. But now, the shirt is worn by all outfield players to make an anti-racism statement.
The black kit includes a red to purple hue, featuring bright yellow emblems on the front: the signature Nike ‘Swoosh' and a monochromatic yellow version of the Seleção's refreshed crest.
Following the game, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) intends to distribute the jerseys worn at CornellĂ -El Prat to key figures in politics and sports. These include the heads of FIFA, UEFA, and CONMEBOL, Brazil's President Luiz InĂĄcio Lula da Silva, and the Minister of Racial Equality, Aniele Franco.
The players will autograph one of the jerseys for auction, and the proceeds will support organizations fighting racism. The CBF museum in Rio de Janeiro will exhibit another jersey.
Note that Nike previously released a black Brazil third kit in 2013 with Neymar as the spokesperson. But the dark shirt never made it to the pitch. But never say never đ.
