Tottenham star Christian Eriksen is open to moving away from Spurs this summer. The 27-year-old attacking midfielder joined the North London team in 2013 for £11 million after blossoming at Ajax.
“I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new,” said the Denmark international. “I hope that something will be decided this summer. That is the plan. Real Madrid is a step up but it would take them picking up the phone and saying that they want me.”
According to The Guardian, Madrid would have to pay £130m to bring Eriksen over to the Santiago Bernabeu. The player still has one year on his contract. Coach Mauricio Pochettino is hoping Eriksen will stay but acknowledges that there’s “a lot of interest” in the player.
“I hope he will [stay],” Pochettino told reporters. “I think he is a great player, Christian. One of the biggest talents in football. After five years working with him, I am sure in the way that he plays, and I hope so, yes.
“But you know, there is a lot of interest. I hope yes, but I don’t know what is going to happen with that.”
Eriksen enjoyed another stellar year for the Spurs, racking up 10 goals and 17 assists in 51 appearances. He helped lead the team to a fourth-place finish in the Premier League and a second-place finish in the Champions League.
He’s made 277 total appearances for the Lilywhites, tallying 66 goals and 80 assists.

Eriksen could be convinced to stay, however, if Tottenham offer the right terms. “It all depends on Daniel Levy and there has to be another club too. Or I will sit down myself at the table and negotiate a new contract,” said Eriksen.
“You can’t set a date yourself. There aren’t many boxes that Tottenham don’t tick so if I have to move away, it would have to be a step up.”
The creative midfielder would be a big loss for Pochettino’s side but Spurs could see the opportunity to cash in and reinvest in the club’s future.
