Jobe Bellingham is following in the footsteps of his older brother Jude. Jobe, who turned 18 last month, is already making a name for himself as a shoo-in starter at Sunderland. Now, the impossible may happen: Jobe may very well join his older brother at Real Madrid one day.
That's because Real Madrid president Florentino Perez told scouts to monitor the younger one closely. The midfielder took the pitch for the England U-19s against Montenegro and Wales and easily impressed. The dribbling, stride, and hustle look all like his older brother. The Three Lions play Austria on Tuesday; you know who's scouts will be in the seats.
Could Jobe follow in Jude's footsteps?
Jude's path to Real Madrid took a similar route; the midfielder played one season at Birmingham City before earning his plaudits at Borussia Dortmund. After three seasons in Germany, the 20-year-old Jude has skyrocketed to fame at Real Madrid, scoring ten goals in 10 matches. The last Madrista to achieve such a feat? The one and only Cristiano Ronaldo who scored the exact tally in his first outing at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Jobe occupies the central midfield position like this brother but is adaptable: Jobe can play in the No. 4, 8, or 10 position. His primary role at Birmingham City was the right wing, but he has been more active in the hole at Sunderland. He's earned two goals and provided one assist in eleven matches this 23/24 season.
Given the rapid ascension of his older brother to the beacon of football at Real Madrid, it's no wonder Jobe is generating the same interest from the Spanish giants.
