Today marks the unveiling of Manchester United’s home kit for the 2023-24 season, which could also signal a possible jersey number switch for young talent Garnacho.

The 18-year-old Argentine winger appears set to inherit the new number 7 shirt for the Red Devils. Given the array of iconic players who have donned the red No 7. shirt, including George Best, , David Beckham, and , Garnacho has some big shoes to fill.

Ronaldo, the last person to wear the shirt, ditched United for last December.

How are we sure about Garnacho’s number change?

Let’s just say the Manchester United store no longer lists Garnacho 49, his current number, as available online.

Garnacho’s brother also shared a post hinting at the shirt change.

The Argentine talent broke into Manchester United’s first team during the 22/23 season, scoring six and providing six assists in 37 appearances. His solid performances earned him a spot on the 2023 Golden Boy Award list, recognizing the best footballer under 21 years old playing in Europe.

But is Garnacho ready to take on the cherished No 7 shirt? Cristiano also got it as a seen. But online reactions nonetheless remained mixed among fans.

“If it was anyone but Garnacho I’d say it’s too early for the #7 shirt, but there’s something different about that boys mentality He’ll thrive off the pressure IMO,” tweeted Frank.

“Makes no sense to hand him the 7 shirt. Why the rush ? If he gets a dip on form they’ll blame the shirt. Best leave it for now,” said another fan.

Some fans noted that , who also inherited the iconic No. 7 shirt at Real Madrid, is much more deserving of the switch. After all, the 22-year-old winger netted 23 and assisted 21 in 55 games last season. He’s also won the Champions League.

Does Garnacho deserve to wear Man United No. 7 shirt so soon?
