Oh, to be a Real Madrid fan these days. Marca reports that the Spanish club is set to present the newly signed Kylian Mbappe at the Santiago Bernabeu between June 3 and June 6.
But before the reveal, Mbappe faces some unfinished business. PSG could even face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals or meet in the semi-finals or finals. That’ll leave a strange taste for fans of both clubs and players alike.
The Champions League final is on June 1 at London’s Wembley Stadium. Should neither team be present, the Mbappe reveal could happen a week earlier but only after the Taylor Swift concerts on June 28 and 29. Of course. 433 Futbol thinks either June 30 or July 1 are the likeliest dates should neither club make the UCL final.
Mbappe expects an initial $140 million signing bonus, with the “rest” of his millions—$290 worth—coming later. Real Madrid plans to subsidize the bill with Mbappe jersey sales and future income from the $1 billion revamped Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, Mbappe promised never to leave PSG on a free transfer, so he’ll forgo a $87 million loyalty bonus as a kick-back to his Parisian pals. PSG’s Qatari owners should feel lucky, especially if PSG plans to one-up Madrid to lure in a ‘revenge’ Vini Junior transfer. In reality, it’s more likely that Rodyrgo would move the other way.
After Mbappe revels in white and gold, the 25-year-old will represent France at the Euros and Paris Olympics. He’s got one busy summer, with legends already tipping him for the Ballon d’Or next season.
Even two-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo Nazario awaits the Frenchman’s arrival in Madrid.
“We have to wait until it’s official before talking about it in detail, but everyone is excited about Kylian Mbappe in Madrid. I think it’s a very good choice for him if he joins Madrid. I think he will finally get the Ballon d’Or if he joins Real,” Ronaldo Nazario told MailSport in March.
Mbappe scored a brace against Real Sociedad last week to seal PSG’s Champions League quarter-final qualification. He’s bagged 46 strikes and 26 assists in 69 UCL matches, with Madrid fans already dreaming of the new “Mr. Champions League.”
