Bad timing for Manchester United.
Center-back Raphael Varane picked up a knock during the UEFA Nations League Cup final that’ll sideline the Frenchman for a ‘few weeks.’
“Raphael Varane sustained a groin muscle injury in the UEFA Nations League Final and has commenced rehabilitation at the club. He will be out for a few weeks,” said Man United’s official statement.
With Harry Maguire still out with a calf injury, the Red Devils will be without their two defensive stars for key clashes against Leicester City, Atalanta (UCL), Liverpool, Tottenham, and Man City.
The loss of United’s two top center backs presents a further challenge to under-fire boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær. The Red Devils boss is causing frustration in the locker room amongst United’s five key players, including Ronaldo.
Even Sir Alex Ferguson criticized the coach for not starting Ronaldo in the 1-1 draw against Everton. “You should always start with your best players,” said Sir Alex in conversation with famed UFC fighter Khabib.
Both Zinedine Zidane and Antonio Conte have been linked with replacing the Norwegian in the last week. However, United provided some reassurance to Solskjær’s job by extending the contract for assistant manager Mike Phelan.
Can United survive the next few weeks without their star men?
