Ronald Araujo has a new summer look. The Barcelona center-back, known for his hair dyes, is gearing up for Copa America with a touch of Celeste.
According to recent training images in Miami, the player is sporting some neatly braided cornrows, some of which include vivid blue streaks.
The 25-year-old takes inspiration from Paul Pogba, who often adopted a new hairdo on international duty. The Gallic Rooster look remains one of our favorites.
Araujo often changes his hairstyle throughout the year, especially for monumental matches. Last season, the Uruguayan dyed his hair in Blaugrana colors for the La Liga title-clinching match against Espanyol. He kept the style until the end of the season.
Of course, it was only a month before that Vini Jr. took a white-haired Araujo Vini Jr. to school in El Clasico. You thought he would’ve learned as he brought it back a year later against PSG.
Perhaps an omen, the 25-year-old most recently sported the white haircut again in Barcelona’s Champions League defeat to Paris Saint Germain. Barca fans still can’t forgive him for getting a red card during the crucial quarter-final match, which entirely changed the game in PSG’s favor. After that, Mbappe controlled the game, taking the Parisians to a 6-4 win on aggregate.
It’s no wonder Araujo, previously attached with a €1 billion transfer clause, remains out of favor at Barca. Given the new blue look ahead of Copa America, is he also signaling his transfer interest to the other Blues: Chelsea? We hear the new boss, Enzo Maresca, is a big fan.
Uruguay is a top favorite to win the Copa America, kicking off against Panama in Group C on June 23.
