Shakira’s new hit song, “Puntería,” will be the official song of the 2024 Copa America for Univision’s television broadcast.
The Colombian pop singer made the surprise announcement on Tuesday at TelevisaUnivision’s Upfront in New York.
“Puntería will be the official song of Univision’s coverage of Copa America 24,” said Shakira on stage, before a round of applause.
Shakira is one of football’s most famous soundtracks. “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” served as the official anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, while “La La La (Brazil 2014)” became Brazil 2014’s World Cup song. She also closed out World Cup Germany 2006 in Berlin with “Hips Don’t Lie.”
Shakira released her first album in seven years, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,” last March. Her single “Puntería” takes another bite at Shakira’s ex-husband and former Barcelona star Gerard Pique.
Shakira has produced several diss tracks calling out the Spaniard who left her for another woman.
