is having another season to remember, with ten and ten assists in all competitions this season. So prolific, the Egyptian King contributes either a goal or assists every 67.5 minutes. So far, he’s having a Ballon d’Or-type season, and the Reds are atop two tables under new coach Arne Slot: the Premier League and Champions League.

Confidence is clearly not an issue for Mo Salah. But as he recently explained on the Reds Roundtable, he wouldn’t have developed such focus and intensity without mulling over a piece of advice from his teammate .

The Moment That Changed Salah’s Mindset Forever

Salah claims that Robertson offered him a key word of advice in his first season with the Reds.

“Quite early in Liverpool, after my first year, Robbo came to me and said: ‘Look, when you miss a chance and you go down like this [drop your head], everybody looks at you, and everybody is like, if a superstar is doing that, what are we going to do?’

“So it was a tough day, but since then it’s stuck in my mind, that’s maybe the only positive thing I get from him [laughs].

“So it’s still in my mind, so since then, even when I miss a chance now, I smile.

“Even if you’re a little bit frustrated, but with time you understand the situation comes and goes, emotion comes and goes, and you try to deal with it in the best possible way.”

The rest, as they say, is history. Salah has buried 221 goals and provided 99 assists in 366 games for the Reds. He’s achieved double figures in his last four seasons, winning the Liverpool’s Player of the Month award this past October.

The 32-year-old continues to prove doubters wrong—if only others knew the depth of Robertson’s comment at the time.
