Last night, three vandals graffitied the outside of Lionel Messi‘s vacation home in Ibiza. The Spanish climate activists spray-painted the white walls black and red and then held up a sign.
The sign read, “Help the Planet. Eat the Rich. Abolish the Police.” Spanish climate activist group Futuro Vegetal took credit for the defacement. The group believes transitioning to plant-based agriculture is essential for reducing environmental impact and ensuring reliable and sustainable food sources.
How is Lionel Messi related to climate change? He’s not. Well, maybe he does spend his millions on his private jet for family vacations in Ibiza. But they all do. Messi is football’s GOAT, and his luxury property was another prop for the group’s “non-violent” activism, re: publicity. Thankfully, the footballer nor anyone else was at the location.
Messi remains stateside. He ruled out playing for Argentina in the Olympics after suffering an ankle knock in Argentina’s triumphant Copa America title against Colombia.
Argentina President Javier Milei labeled the damage to Messi’s property “cowardly and delusional event.” He encouraged Spanish authorities to better protect Messi and Argentine expats living in Spain.
“Communism is an ideology fostered by envy, hatred and resentment towards the successful. It has no place in the free and civilized world. LONG LIVE FREEDOM DAMN IT,” he said on X.
