A reliable image leak has revealed Liverpool’s upcoming green away kit for the 2023/24 season.
The new design is reminiscent of the Adidas-produced kit from the 1995/96 season. It features a green-and-white color scheme that pays homage to that time period.
This will be the first time Liverpool wears green and white as their away kit since the quartered New Balance strip for the 2017/18 season.
Furthermore, that was the year the Reds finished runners-up in the Champions League. Of course, that lit the spark of redemption for their triumphant 2018/19 UCL campaign.
Liverpool’s new 2023/24 green away kit takes inspiration from the past
Nike has designed the new away shirt with a predominantly white base, adding blocks of green in the top left and bottom right areas of the torso.
The kit features an embroidered Liver bird crest, Nike logo, and an updated Expedia logo, all in black. The cuffs and collar adopt the same dark theme, thereby setting up a nice contrast with the white and “green spark” kit.
Black shorts and white and green socks complete the uniform, according to Twitter insider @FumlerRawk. The Nike swoosh appears in front of the sock.
Liverpool fan @lfcdn11 on Twitter helps us visualize the kit by overlaying it on Virgin van Dijk. Here’s the kit imagined on newly signed striker Darwin Nunez as well.
In July, Nike plans to release the new kit and the club’s third kit (currently green), which rumors suggest will feature “space purple.”
The purple color is similar to the one used in this season’s home goalkeeper kit.
Liverpool’s 23/24 throwback away kit is part of Nike’s effort to update nostalgic shirts of the past. Just look at Nike’s beautiful modern rendition of AIK Fotboll 132-year home strip.
Adidas is also trying to evoke old-school vibes on the upcoming Barcelona and Manchester United 23/24 kits. The German sportswear giant took came under scrutiny for Manchester United’s “puke green” earlier this year.
