Apple is set to release a TV+ documentary on the grand arrival of Lionel Messi. The forthcoming episodes will premiere on October 11 in a Messi Meets America series.
Apple TV+ teased a clip from the forthcoming 6-part documentary on Monday, showing an inside look at Messi’s new chapter in Miami. The docuseries reveals exclusive interviews with the World Cup champ, including those with his wife, Antonela, and fellow teammates.
Apple plans to release the first half of the series now, with the remaining three later in the MLS season.
Messi-mania has swept the US ever since the 36-year-old debuted for the Herons in July during the Leagues Cup. He scored a free-kick winner in that match, ultimately leading the team to their first club trophy, the Leagues Cup title, later that August.
Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham praised his superstar signing, saying in the trailer: “This is one of the greatest players in the world.”
To Messi fans’ dismay, the Argentine is suffering a right hamstring injury right now and has missed the last three matches. The Herons have struggled without their star man, tying two and losing one, putting into doubt the club’s ambition for an MLS playoff birth.
Messi has 11 goals and five assists in 12 appearances for the Ft. Lauderdale side.
