Dortmund have identified Chelsea’s Timo Werner as a replacement if star striker Erling Haaland departs, according to Bild.
Werner has failed to impress during his time at Stamford Bridge after a €60M move from RB Leipzig last summer.
Perhaps underrated or often overlooked, Werner still managed to notch 12 goals and 15 assists in 52 appearances last season, capped off by earning a Champions League trophy. But expectations remain high at Chelsea.
Haaland, meanwhile, scored his 21st Champions League goal in just his 17th tournament game yesterday in a group stage victory over Besiktas.
The 21-year-old goal machine has been linked with moves to Europe’s elite clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, and most recently, Real Madrid.
Haaland has an $88.48M guaranteed release clause.
