Jordyn Huitema is a beacon for the next generation of footballers. As one of the brightest stars in Canadian soccer, Huitema's journey from the fields of British Columbia to the grand stages of Tokyo, PSG, and now the Seattle Reign is a testament to her relentless pursuit of excellence. She leads on the scoreboard and changes perceptions of women's soccer through her style and spirit.

Off the field, 22-year-old Huitema is just as impactful. Her recent partnership with New Balance isn't just about sportswear; it's about setting a new standard for how female athletes are seen in the world's beautiful game.

As the Olympic gold medalist prepares for her second games in Paris, her role extends beyond scoring . She's set to inspire a flood of young athletes who see in her a trailblazer and trendsetter on and off the pitch. 433futbol sat down with Jordyn to discuss her deal with , her visions for the future of women's soccer, her return to Paris for the Summer , and how she plans to use her platform to make a lasting impact.

433futbol: Who were the players you spoke to about New Balance before signing?

Jordyn Huitema: I was able to talk a little with [Bukayo] Saka, so he told me about his experience with New Balance, after that and after a long meditation, I think I made the right decision!

How vital is it that New Balance women's designs specific technical wear and apparel? Can you describe the influence you'll have on the elements of your New Balance line?

I think that New Balance's emergence into the sports world is being very big, so the fact that they are looking at the women's side undoubtedly encourages women's football to have a little more spotlight!

We're still deciding on some new projects that I definitely know fans will love!

seems to be a passion of yours. What do you enjoy about experimenting with fashion? What is your one essential go-to fashion accessory for game-day fit?

I love being fashionable, in that sense I consider myself somewhat demanding. I like to experiment with the atypical, what is not common on the market, but at the same time I always look for comfort!

My favorite accessory is at game time, I would say that I always like to wear high socks as some kind of “talisman”.

Beyond football, what kind of legacy do you hope to build with New Balance in terms of empowering young women?

Beyond football, I believe and hope to serve as an example of disruption in getting out of the routine of choosing the same old thing. Especially in young women who are not yet decided on what they want to be, or for fear of being rejected. My ideals and those of New Balance go hand in hand, so we made chemistry!

As you head into your second Olympic Games this summer, how has your approach or preparation changed based on your experiences from winning gold in Tokyo?

Yes, the team made an effort and thanks to hard work and discipline we were able to win that gold for Canada, now the desire is much more, perhaps now there is less demand but the desire is more! I will give my all for the team.

Messi or Ronaldo?

Between the two of them, I like Cristiano the most, because of his ambition, his mentality and the way he says: “I will achieve it because it is me”, I am definitely a fan of Cristiano, for me there is no doubt!

And my current favorite player is a goalkeeper, I think most of the time they are not given enough credit. I really like what Emiliano Martinez does, although many people don't like his attitude, I love it, and I take it with humor. He is a great goalkeeper!

Now for some bonus time with Jordyn — here are some personal things she's passionate about outside the game.

You've traveled extensively through soccer. What's one place that has captured your heart, and why does it stand out to you?

I really liked Madrid the first time I went, I still like it. Its colonial architecture has me fascinated!

Beyond soccer, what are you passionate about, and how do you pursue these interests in your downtime?

I am passionate about fashion, so maybe one day I will venture into something related to it. The business world seems interesting to me, but I think everything happens in its own time. I would say that I always try to give my best in whatever I do!

What is the last book you've gifted a friend?

I think the last book I gave to someone was by the Canadian writer Margaret Atwood, which was called The Hands Maid's Tale. I highly recommend it!
