Manchester City is celebrating the Lunar New Year with a special one of a kind “Year of the Dragon” kit.

The “Year of the Dragon” is a distinguished period in the Chinese zodiac, symbolizing strength, fortune, and wisdom. In 2024, Chinese New Year will start on February 10.

City is capitalizing on the club's huge success and global growth the last decade by appealing to Chinese heritage.

City left winger kicked off the announcement of the newly released shirt which forms part of a broader collection that includes a t-shirt, tracksuit, and track pants.

The tracksuit top features a prominent dragon , seamlessly blending with the Manchester City logo on the back.

The 2024 Lunar New Year kit design

The one-a-kind jersey features hand-drawn illustrations of the new zodiac, the Wood Dragon. “Rise and soar, Cityzens,” is the club's clarion call to manifest the dragon's auspicious symbolism.

Will the new kit bring Manchester City good fortune? As usual, City has started off the season a bit slow by their standards, especially with team leader and knocked up.

But those players' subsequent return has the Cityzens gradually making their way back up the Premier League table. Guardiola's City teams tend to finish the year strong despite early struggles. Last year, City overcame a first-half season deficit to beat out the Gunners to the club's first Treble. This time around, it's familiar faces in Klopp's Liverpool that stand in their way.

Needless to say, the Year of the Dragon kit arrives just in time for City's hopeful turnaround to the season. Guardiola's optimism is always palpable.
