Borussia Dortmund have always worn yellow loudly. But the 2025–26 home kit, officially unveiled by the club and PUMA, dials up that iconic color with more intensity and meaning than ever before.
This year’s kit features a vibrant yellow base punctuated by a bold, distorted black graphic that stretches across the chest like a soundwave. The design pays tribute to the club’s 1993–94 home shirt, blending retro cues with modern attitude. Its abstract brushstroke pattern draws directly from urban street art and the raw energy of Dortmund’s famous Yellow Wall. According to the club, the shirt represents “The loudest colours in football,” a campaign tagline meant to capture the noise, passion, and power of Signal Iduna Park on matchday.
A new sponsor, a new signal
PUMA’s design team didn’t stop at color and form. The kit’s black sleeve panels offer a sleek contrast to the yellow torso, echoing the balance between tradition and reinvention. Black shorts and yellow socks round out the look, creating a cohesive, sharp presence on the pitch. Subtle detailing adds further depth, including the phrase “Borussia verbindet” stitched on the back of the collar—a quiet but powerful message that translates to “Borussia unites.”
But this kit is more than just a new look. It signals a major commercial shift. Longtime sponsor Evonik steps aside as Vodafone steps in. The British telecommunications company becomes Borussia Dortmund’s new main sponsor in a five-year deal structured to align with the club’s visual identity. Vodafone’s logo appears in black to blend seamlessly with the kit’s accents, avoiding the kind of jarring branding that has clashed with Dortmund’s colors in previous partnerships.
The shift reflects more than business. For Dortmund, it’s part of a wider strategy to fuse legacy with future-forward identity. That philosophy carries through to the shirt’s production. Manufactured with PUMA’s RE:FIBRE technology, the kit is built from recycled polyester garments—giving second life to unused textiles. This sustainability-first approach reflects a growing trend in European football: prioritizing environmental responsibility without sacrificing performance.
The 2025–26 home shirt will be officially released on August 8 at 9:00 a.m. CET via Borussia Dortmund’s online store and official retail partners. It will debut on pitch in Dortmund’s Bundesliga season opener and will feature prominently throughout their Champions League campaign. In every setting, it will serve not only as a visual statement but as a symbol of the club’s evolving ambitions.
More than a kit, it’s a continuation of identity. A bold echo of history. And a clear signal of what’s next.
