Spanish state prosecutors have accused Real Madrid boss of alleged tax fraud. The Real Madrid boss is said to have evaded over $1.09 million in earnings from image rights during 2014-2015.

According to Revelo, Spanish legal authorities seek a four-year and nine-month jail sentence for the Italian boss.

If his magic touch at Real Madrid—two Champions League and one La Liga title—is any sign, Ancelotti is assembling a team of lawyers to defend his case. The 64-year-old will likely shake off the jail sentence by paying a hefty fee.

High-profile footballers Messi and Ronaldo also paid heavy fines for supposed tax evasion over their image rights. In 2016, Messi avoided a 21-month prison sentence by paying the tax authorities $282,240 in fees.

In 2019, Ronaldo also attempted to dodge 's government of millions through the use of overseas tax havens over his image rights profits. The court suspended his prison sentence in exchange for $20 million.

In a dramatic twist, former Real Madrid standout and Bayern Leverkusen gaffer fought similar tax fraud allegations in 2019. He allegedly evaded $2.24 million in taxes from 2010 to 2012, linked to his income from image rights. Xabi won his case against the Spanish court due to insufficient evidence.
