Nike has again teamed up with Swedish club AIK to produce a wondrous new kit as a nod to the team's 100th year in Sweden's top flight, known as the Allsvenskan.
The kit takes a cue from its 1924 origins — a predominantly black color blending ever so strikingly against a traditional V-shaped yellow collar and matching cuff accents.
As often with early 20th-century kits before the dawn of emblems and sponsors, the shirt features the club's initials “AIK” (Allmänna Idrottsklubben) in bold mustard yellow at the chest. Nike recreates the original hand-sewn vibe of the original shirts with a plush velvet fabric.
Nike's original 1971 swoosh and brand name flank the right of the kit, just as it did on last year's Nike AIK 132-year shirt.
The club debuted the limited edition over the weekend in a three-one victory over Orebro SK.
The new Nike x AIK limited-edition retro shirt will win old and new fans if they can get their hands on one. Only 299 will be available, the first third to the club's season ticket holders, with follow-up drops at the Friends Arena and on Pro Direct. Revenue generated from sales will facilitate the participation of underprivileged children at a non-profit sports camp, Stadiums Sports Camp.
