More drama at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have reached out to Zinedine Zidane to replace under-fire boss , according to El Chiringuito. The request came from no other than , himself.

Ronaldo, among other key Red Devils players, have been quietly criticizing their boss after the team’s draw against earlier this month. Ronaldo didn’t start that match. Now, on the heels of a crushing 4-2 defeat to the calls for Solskjaer’s sacking are growing louder.

“I’m in dialogue with club all the time – open and honest,” Solskjaer told reporters ahead of the team’s Champions League clash Atalanta. “There is pressure on me, of course. We have progressed over the years, third, second… I’ve got my values as long as club believes in me, I’ve my way of managing and I believe in myself.”

“We need to improve. Every team will go through a patchy period, we are in one now – the coaching staff we have got is absolutely amazing, the attention to detail, training sessions, preparations. I don’t think I could ask for better”.

Despite reassurances of Solskjaer’s job, he remains under scrutiny and on thin ice. Zidane, of course, is an elite manager whose three Champions League speak for themselves. He also won La Liga upon his return to coach the club.

Zidane is patiently waiting for the job to open up but that could still be a couple of years away. Didier Deschamp’s job remains secure footing despite Les Bleues’s early exit from Euro 2020.

Can Solskjaer hang on and turn things around at Old Trafford? He’s done it before. The rollercoaster continues.
