is adding another property to his investing portfolio: UFL. The free-to-play football game is set to rival FC and eFootball in the football gaming arena.

Strikerz Inc., the developer behind the online game, pits players of similar skill levels against others in singles, doubles, and 3v3 formats. After seven years of development, the gaming company plans to release its first official iteration in Xbox Series X|S, One, and PS5 formats.

Video game review outlet IGN reports that UFL's ‘fair to play' online game divisions, which currently encompass 5,000-plus players, will be connected through promotions. The season lasts a whole year. At the end of the year, one player will be named the UFL champion.

From the pitch to pixels: Investor Cristiano Ronaldo also snags UFL cover

“I'm thrilled to be a part of this project as UFL can become the new breed in football gaming,” said Ronaldo, who invested $40 million in helping UFL spur production and marketing efforts. He also joins Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and Oleksandr Zinchenko as ambassadors of the hit game.

The gaming studio will make the Al-Nassr forward their front-cover star in the game's official release.

“Having Cristiano Ronaldo join us as a partner and investor is a significant step forward and an endorsement of our vision to create the leading game for football fans in the world,” said Strikerz Inc. CEO Eugene Nashilov.

“UFL is committed to innovation, technology, and entertainment, and we see significant potential to do things differently in the gaming industry.

“This is an ambition shared by Cristiano and we are excited to be working together, while continuing to engage with future investors, to create a game that fills a gap in the football gaming market by unifying a rich gaming experience with continuous progress and a fair approach.”
