This summer’s Euro 2024 anthem is the ultimate collaboration. German singer/songwriter Leony, American rock band OneRepublic, and Italian electronic group MEDUZA teamed up to produce a song entitled “Fire.”
All three bands will come together to perform the progressive house track live during the tournament’s closing ceremony on Sunday, July 14. Fans can win two tickets to the final through a special social media campaign promoting the #LightYourFire hashtag.
Said UEFA Euro 2024 tournament director Philipp Lahm — yes, the World Cup winner and Bayern legend Philipp Lahm.
“Football and music both have the power to unite people. When I think of EURO ’96 , I have ‘Football’s Coming Home’ in my head. At UEFA EURO 2024, we want to celebrate Europe’s diversity and strengthen the feeling of togetherness. Good sport and beautiful music should carry us through the summer – with the EURO song “FIRE.”
The hit track continues to build excitement going into the tournament launch, starting on Friday, June 14, when Germany takes on Scotland in the group stages. Here’s the video promo for the anthem:
Meanwhile, the Dutch national team collaborated with electronic artist Armin van Buuren to produce its official national anthem. The song “Larger Than Life” samples the team’s players, making it the first track since André Hazes’ “Wij Houden Van Oranje” in 1988 to do so.
Do you like the official Euro 2024 song better than Shakira’s 2024 Copa America anthem?
