It comes as no surprise that Real Madrid, one of the most prominent football clubs in the world, has also hosted some of the best domestic talents in the world. From the likes of Raul to Iker Casillas, here are some of the Spanish greats to step on the field at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
RaĂșl
A legend for his long and successful spell at Real Madrid where he started at the age of 15, RaĂșl finished his 16-year career with Los Blancos scoring 323 goals while earning 3 Champions Leagues and 6 La Liga titles.
Iker Casillas
The Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas spent 16 years as a dependable and consistent shot blocker between the posts. Casillas went on to make 725 appearances with Real Madrid where he loaded up the trophy case with five Spanish League championships, four Spanish Super Cups, two Copa Del Rey's and two UEFA Super Cups.
Chendo
The Spanish right-back Chendo spent his entire career with Real Madrid, helping the team to achieve seven La Liga victories, two Copa del Rey, a Champions League, and two UEFA Cups.
Sergio Ramos
Love him or hate him for his controversial tackles, Sergio Ramos has been a remarkably consistent defender at the top level for 14 years while also scoring important goals. Ramos succeeded Iker Casillas as Real Madrid captain in 2015, helping guide Los Blancos to four of the five last Champions League victories.
Fernando Hierro
A hard-tackling defensive midfielder, Fernando Hierro helped power the Real Madrid side for over 14 years, obtaining three Champions League and five La Liga titles.
Xabi Alonso
The versatile midfielder Xabi Alonso excelled in both offensive and defensive positions, a prime playmaker and a skilled tackler. As part of Spain's golden era that won Euro 2008 and 2012 along with the 2010 World Cup., Xabi played 114 games for the national side, scoring 16 goals.
Ălvaro Arbeloa
The right-back played two stints with Real Madrid, the latter 2009 – 2016 seasons saw him win eight trophies including La Liga and two Champions Leagues.
Emilio Butragueño
The former striker played eleven seasons at the Santiago Bernabéu, netting 123 times and contributing to the team's two UEFA Cups, two Copa del Rey, and five La Liga titles.
Rafael Gordillo
Playing 182 domestic matches as left-back, Rafael Gordillo helped Los Blancos win a UEFA cup in his first year with Real Madrid. He also guided the side to five consecutive La Liga titles from 1985 to 1990.
Guti
The Spanish creative midfielder earned nearly 400 caps with the Los Blancos, where he filled in the role of a retiring Zinedine Zidane to help the squad win the league in 2006-07. In total, he notched three Champions Leagues, five league trophies, and four Super Cup wins.
IvĂĄn Helguera
The Spanish center back earned 229 domestic caps with the Real Madrid side, with two memorable performances en route to winning two Champions Leagues and three league titles.
