Inter Miami morphing into a haven for Barca legends

36-year-old Suarez would be the third former Blaugrana player to reunite with Messi at Inter Miami. Beckham's Herons already recruited Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba along with the Argentine talisman last season.

Inter Miami is working with the Porto Alegre team to finalize a one-year deal. Suarez will visit Ft. Lauderdale in December to put ink to paper. Inter released Venezuelan striker Josef Martinez to make space for the arrival of Suarez.

Suarez and Messi formed part of the epic “MSN” three-pronged attack at Barcelona that included before he left for PSG. Messi, Suarez, and Neymar scored a whopping 137 during the 2014-2015 season, topping up the dominance with Barcelona's second treble under then-boss Luis Enrique.

Suarez struck the net 198 times for the Catalan giants over six seasons. But Barcelona let him go on a free transfer to Atletico Madrid in 2021 because they considered the No. 9 “too old.” That decision backfired as El Pistolero powered Atletico Madrid to their first La Liga title in seven years under boss .

Suarez scored 22 goals in 46 matches for Gremio since joining the Brazilian side last December. He and the Barca all-stars could help Inter Miami to their second major trophy next season; Messi already helped secure the first with the Leagues Cup.

There's no doubt Suarez's decision to head to Miami is also a personal one – he and the Messi family are close friends. Messi recently bought a new South Florida mansion near the Inter Miami practice facilities — we won't be surprised if Suarez moves in just down the road.
