Burna Boy will perform at the UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul on June 10, 2023.
The Champions League final is a premier global football event pitting Europe’s best football clubs against each other. It is the Super Bowl of football, so it’s no surprise the game also attracts the world’s biggest artists.
Burna Boy is one of Nigeria‘s most popular musicians and has gained a massive following around the world.
His music has been praised for its fusion of Afrobeat, reggae, and hip-hop. The chart-topping sensation has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Beyoncé, Stormzy, and Justin Bieber.
Burna Boy won the Best Global Music Album award at the 2021 Grammy Awards for his album Twice As Tall.
“As a huge football fan myself, I know it doesn’t get any bigger than the UEFA Champions League, ” said the “Last Last” smash-hit artist.
“Music and football are the ultimate combination, so you already know I’ll be bringing the vibes and making magic in Istanbul. The world ain’t ready for what we have in store!”
Burna Boy follows in the footsteps of popular artists like Dua Lipa and Camilla Cabello who opened the final in years past.
The musician has also partnered with Pepsi ambassadors and football stars Leo Messi, Leah Williamson, and Vini Jr on a user-submission contest. The goal of this collaboration is to encourage fans to share their dance moves or ball skills on TikTok using the hashtag #PepsiKickOffShow.
The top entries will be given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform during the show.
